Terms of Service

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Fourth Official is a record-keeping tool for soccer referees. These terms are the agreement between you and us for using it. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account, and you're responsible for keeping access to it secure. One account is meant for one person — your own officiating records. You must be at least 13 years old to have an account.

Your data is yours

You own the records you enter. We claim no ownership over them and don't sell them, share them with advertisers, or use them to train anything.

You can export your games, mileage, and expenses to CSV at any time from the Reports page, and you can permanently delete your account and everything in it from Settings. Those two doors stay open — we won't hold your data hostage to keep you as a user. How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.

What it costs

Fourth Official is free to use right now. We may introduce paid plans in the future, with some features available only on them.

If that happens, we'll tell you in the app before anything changes, and we will never charge you without asking first. You'll have time to decide — and to export your data and leave if you'd rather not continue.

Not professional advice

Mileage totals, pay summaries, deduction estimates, and tax-ready exports are records and estimates for your own use. They are not tax, legal, or financial advice, and nothing here is a statement that any amount is deductible.

Whether a given expense or mile is deductible depends on your circumstances — for example, travel between home and a venue may be treated as commuting rather than business travel. The app records what you did; you and your tax professional decide what to claim. You are responsible for what you file.

Reading uploaded files with AI

On a paid plan you can upload a file that isn't our template — a PDF, a screenshot, or an assignor's own spreadsheet — and we'll read the assignments out of it. To do that, the file is sent to Anthropic, which transcribes it and sends the result back. See the Privacy Policy for what that means for your data.

The transcription is a best effort, not a guarantee. It can misread a date, a fee, or a name. That is why nothing is saved until you review the games on screen and confirm them — the review step is yours, and the records you end up with are the ones you approved. We aren't responsible for figures you confirm without checking them.

Only upload a file you're entitled to share. Assignment sheets usually list other officials, sometimes with contact details, and by uploading one you confirm you may do so. If you'd rather not send a file to a third party, use the CSV template instead — nothing about it leaves the service.

Reading files this way costs us money per upload, so it is subject to fair-use limits. If you reach them, the rest of the app — including template imports — keeps working.

Acceptable use

Use the service for your own lawful record-keeping. Don't:

  • try to access another user's data, or any part of the system you weren't given access to;
  • disrupt or overload the service, or automate it in ways that generate abnormal load;
  • upload content you have no right to, or use it to harass anyone.

Be thoughtful about details you save on other people — crew, assignors, assessors. Enter only what you actually need, and remember some of them may be minors.

Availability

We work to keep the service running and accurate, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free. Features may change, and parts that depend on outside services — Google sign-in, maps and mileage lookups, your assigning platform's schedule feed — can be interrupted by those services in ways we don't control.

Keep your own records for anything that matters. The export exists so you always have a copy of your own; if a number matters for your taxes or an upgrade application, don't let this app be the only place it lives.

Ending it

You can stop using Fourth Official and delete your account at any time, for any reason. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. If we shut the service down, we'll give you notice with enough time to export your data.

Liability

The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it — including lost records, missed payments, or tax outcomes.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and we each agree to those courts hearing it.

If you live somewhere whose consumer-protection laws give you rights this section can't take away, those rights still apply — nothing here is meant to remove them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. If a change is material, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree to a change, you can export your data and close your account.
